Jennifer Pethoud, Interior Designer
After two years decorating and accessorizing showroom floors for Slater’s,
Jennifer Pethoud transitioned to interior design consultant —
with a following of satisfied clients.
Her passion for interior design started early in life as she sketched
floor plans and changed color schemes. She now enjoys helping clients
with space planning, choosing their color palettes and more. “I
let clients know that if they like the style of a certain item, but
aren’t crazy about the wood finish, upholstery or leather, we
can custom order the piece to reflect their style. We can customize
much of what we have available in our store,” she notes. “Slater’s
has a lot to offer! Our newest addition is our leather gallery, with
many options and styles to choose from.”
Jennifer asks questions to get to know her clients’ personal
styles, such as if they are drawn to certain colors, fabrics and/or
textures, or if they consider themselves more traditional, contemporary,
country or eclectic. “After I get to know my clients, I have a
feel for what they do and don’t like,” she says.
Once the main fabrics are determined, options such as upholstery, furniture
and window coverings are selected. “Then we can add the final
finishing touches through lighting and accessories,” she says.
Jennifer was born in Ojai and later moved to Modesto. She loves working
for Slater’s. Her goal for every client is to help them find exactly
what they’re looking for. She wants each client to walk into their
newly designed house and for it to “feel like home,” and
for each client’s home to “look like them and feel like
them.”
